About the Preserves

The HMP Preserve System  is made up of  smaller individual preserves that are managed mostly by the City of Carlsbad, California Department of Fish and Game, University of California Natural Reserve System, non-profit management entities (e.g., Center for Natural Lands Management and Helix Community Conservancy), and a variety of Master Home Owner's Associations (HOAs). Click on the colored areas of the Preserve System map below to find out more information about each preserve. Names of individual preserves appear when your mouse hovers over a given area, and are also given in the map legend at the bottom of the page. The map works best when viewed in Internet Explorer 6 or higher.
